Tile Large Images for Printing
Occasionally I need to print an image larger than 8.5″x11″ to my little home printer. In many cases it works just fine to tile the image onto multiple letter size sheets of paper. Especially if I’m going to be laminating the prints.
To tile a larger image you’ll simply need to adjust the position of the image on the paper. Here’s how it looks in my print setup:
Set the distance from the top of the page to 0 for the first tile.
For the second tile I set -7 to allow some overlap for attaching the two tiles. A full -8.5 would have started the new tile right where the first tile ended. Choosing -7 allows an inch and a half of space to adhere the pages together.
If your image is also wider than your printer’s capabilities, you can use the left position to print side tiles as well.
